Meet the Team

Simon Heller

Simon Heller, CEO

As the CEO of Orion, Simon’s ethos is centred on the Latin phrase ‘Nil Sine Labore’ translated as ‘Nothing without labour’.

Simon founded Orion in 1998, originally specialising in commercial and domestic heating and began trading in 1999. Due to client demand and an excellent reputation, Orion expanded its services to include air conditioning, plumbing, electrical and water hygiene. As a result of the expansion, Orion’s name changed from Orion Heating Services to Orion Building Engineering Services in 2012.

Scarlett Cruger

Scarlett Cruger, Director of Operations

Scarlett Cruger joined Orion Building Engineering Services Ltd in 2018. She oversees all business operations, including management of the Orion team and all projects. Scarlett has international experience within the business management industry and works alongside the CEO to ensure the highest level of efficiency is achieved within the Orion organisation.

Stephen Dean, Engineering Manager

With over 40 years of experience, Stephen began his career at British GAS in 1977. He then completed an apprenticeship where he continued as a GAS service engineer until 1988. Stephen also trained as a commercial gas and oil combustion engineer at planned maintenance engineering. Prior to joining us at Orion in 2015, Stephen worked at Carillion Engineering Maintenance Services and Maracom Limited. As an Engineering Manager, his duties include day-to-day reactive maintenance programmers, offering technical support, managing and supervising other engineers.

Graham Jordan – Contract Coordinator

Graham Jordan, Contract Coordinator

Graham joined Orion Building Engineering services as a Contract Coordinator. He is responsible for the effective and efficient running of the Contract Department.

Prior to joining Orion, Graham worked within several different industries in finance and administration roles and has 25 years of experience.

Richard Bird

Richard Bird, Air Conditioning Manager

Richard joined Orion as the Air Conditioning Manager and leads service technicians who work with ventilation and air conditioning systems. Highly driven with over ten years of experience in the air conditioning industry, he has worked in a variety of areas including, Fault finding, Service, install and overseeing projects and has a solid understanding of all aspects. 

Before Joining Orion, Richard supervised a large team of Engineers, providing technical support, Training and Building Relationships with Clients. Richard has a very good understanding of healthy living and nutrition and is also a keen sportsman, which has allowed him to transfer key skills to the work environment.

Nicola Dornan

Nicola Dornan, Customer Service Account Manager

Nicola is a motivated individual who operates with integrity.

With progression through the company to Customer Service Account Manager, Nicola’s duties include, proactively manage the account of customers, manage any complaints received in line with the company complaint procedure, gas service compliance, reactive maintenance, arranging schedules for the gas service team and the day-to-day assisting of the Office Manager.

Prior to joining Orion, Nicola has 22 years’ experience in customer services and sales.

Methusa Thushanthan, Finance Officer

Methusa graduated from the University of Bedfordshire with a first-class degree in BSc Accounting and Finance. Methusa joined Orion as a Finance Assistant and is responsible for the day-to-day tasks within the financial department. Prior to joining Orion, Methusa worked as an Accounts Assistant within the finance department of a group company. Methusa is fluent in three languages: English, Tamil and French.

Lucy Walsh, Health & Safety Manager

Lucy Walsh started working with Orion Building Engineering Services Ltd in Oct 2018. A health and safety, quality and environmental professional for over 25 years implementing systems, gaining accreditations, auditing and providing solutions to manage the risks within the business. Having started her career in the construction industry has also spent time in warehouse and distribution, electrical and mechanical engineering, FM and large global organisations. Lucy is responsible for looking after the Health and Safety at Orion working to ensure the business is meeting its legislative demands and requirements, always working towards achieving best practice and aligning with Orion’s mission and long-term success.

Olliver Mcgilloway, Contract Administrator

Olliver joined Orion Building Engineering Services as a contract Administrator. He is responsible for Water Hygiene contracts and works closely with other departments and the engineering team. Olliver has background in IT support within the travel industry and has customer service experience . Olliver is always working towards achieving best practice and aligning with Orion’s mission and long-term success.


Niamh Bayliss-Conway, Business and Marketing Intern

Niamh joined Orion as a summer intern, aiming to gain experience in business operations and marketing. Niamh is a driven individual, with a strong work ethic, which is reflected in her educational achievements thus far. As she enters her final year of studying Psychology BSc at The University of Nottingham, Niamh aims to graduate with a first class degree. Whilst interning at Orion, Niamh will gain a thorough understanding of business operations, as well as creating content for the companies social media accounts.


Michelle Hardwood, Bid Manager

Michelle has worked at Orion Building Engineering Services for over 5 years and has experience in delivering proposals for over 15 years. Michelle manages the completion of Supplier Questionnaires (SQs) and invitations to tenders (ITTs) which includes the coordination of the quality and pricing, delivering a successful strategy for winning a bid and working with key members of the organisation to obtain information required to compile a compliant and competitive submission.

Will Darling, Purchasing Manager

Will joined Orion Building Engineering services as Purchasing Manager. He is responsible for the effective and efficient requisition of materials.

Prior to joining Orion, Will held various roles at a national plumbing merchant. He successfully completed their accelerated development training and quickly became Branch Manager. He has 15years of experience in the plumbing and heating industry.


Bushra Durrani, Finance and Office Administrator

Bushra Durrani joined Orion as Finance and Office Administrator has achieved a highly motivated master’s in finance and Corporate Governance and BSc. in Maths and Statistics can provide key analytical support to company managers to enhance the ethos and values of Orion. Prior to Orion, Bushra worked as an operation executive for a logistics company and was responsible for the day-to-day tasks and finance.

Stefano Rospo

Stefano Rospo, Contract Manager

Stefano joined Orion as a Contract Manager.

As a result of his driven and innovative approach to work, Stefano has acquired a broad skill set in fault finding, installations, servicing, and commissioning.

During his ten years of commercial heating experience, he has worked on a variety of different contracts including schools and sheltered accommodation.

Stefano’s skill set and experience is reflected in the standard of his work.

Wayne Martin

Wayne Martin, M&E Manager

Wayne joined Orion as the Mechanical and Electrical Contracts Manager.

He is responsible for leading commercial gas and electrical technicians who work in commercial buildings, social housing, and SME businesses.

Highly equipped with 18 years of industry experience, he has worked in a variety of areas including, reactive and planned maintenance, installations, project management and service delivery. His expertise has benefited organisations such as British Gas Commercial, the Ministry of Justice, and the NHS.

Due to his qualifications as a gas service engineer, Oftec engineer and electrician, he is well equipped to give technical support to Orion’s staff and clients.

Wayne has managed many teams covering large areas of country and has an exceptional understanding of industry requirements.

Jon Conrad

Jon Conrad, Water Hygiene Manager

Jon joined Orion as the Manager of the Water Hygiene division.

With his 20 years of industry experience, progressing from engineer to a managerial position, Jon’s technical knowledge and commitment to keeping customers safe and compliant is his top priority.
